Dusit Thani Manila Named "Best City Hotel" in Manila

The impressive foyer of Dust Thani Hotel, Manila
Dust Thani has long been our hotel of choice when it comes to indulging our guests in 5 Star Manila accommodation.

Well now, we’re pleased to say that Dusit Thani has been recognized as the “Best City Hotel – Manila” at the 28th Annual TTG Travel Awards 2017.

More exciting are their plans to open further hotels within the brand in Cebu, Davao and La Union within the next three years.

That is something we’re very much looking forward to, and checking out for ourselves!

The Philippines Celebrates Christmas Like Nowhere Else in Asia!

Nowhere in Asia is Christmas celebrated as it is in the Philippines!!

It is the only Asian country with a predominantly Christian population, and its Christmas season is considered to be the longest in the world.

The season begins in September and lasts until the start of January, thereby covering all months ending in "ber". Most Christmas ceremonies are still held in December, however.

Christmas carols, and pop songs will already have been playing in shops and malls for many weeks!

It's no surprise that Christmas is a highly popular time for tourists to visit the Philippines, often tying it in with the New Year holiday. Hotels and accommodation providers can be fully booked weeks beforehand.

The message is, if you're thinking about a holiday in the Philippines over Christmas, don't leave it too late!

Boracay - the Perfect Philippines Beach Destination...

On one small island Boracay provides everything a traveller could want from a beach holiday. The sand is soft and white, the sea crystal clear, and blue skies turn into spectacular sunsets in the evening.
Whether you’re looking to relax or party, Boracay has it all. There’s a variety of sports and activities available too.

Hotels and Resorts

Boracay Island has all kinds of accommodation, suitable for all budgets.

The simplest include rustic style "nipa style huts”, which are single storey dwellings made from bamboo and palm leaves. Alongside these are the most modern luxury hotels, equipped with spas, gymnasiums, and even conference facilities.

Mid-range accommodation includes boutique hotels and resorts. Most hotels and resorts are located along the length of the famous White Beach

Dining

There are over 200 cafés and restaurants on Boracay offering all kinds of dishes from around the world, and to suit all budgets. Chicken and pork are the most popular meats, as in most of the Philippines, but the fresh seafood is what steals the show. Irresistably delicious and plentiful.

There are also numerous bars and discos, many open into the early hours.

Shops and Markets

On Boracay the largest market is the Talipapa, situated between White Beach and the Main Road that runs through the centre of the island.

There is also a mall, called D’Mall, which has around 100 stores selling all kinds of goods and souvenirs, including beachwear, art and crafts, and antiques, many at attractively low cost.

Climate

From November to February the weather is cooler and mostly dry. March to June is warm and also dry. Rain is most likely between July and October, although it remains warm. Over the year, temperatures on Boracay range between 24° and 32° centigrade.

Yes, You Can Cruise in the Philippines

We're often asked if there are any cruises that sail in the Philippines.

Whilst there are several cruise lines that visit parts of the Philippines during a longer itinerary, there is just one small ship cruise that starts and ends in the country, operated by Discovery Fleet.

The itinerary has a number of guaranteed sailings, and the cruise is designed to suit both divers and non-divers, with each day planned to suit both.

You can view the itinerary and sailing dates on the Cruises page of our website here.

At Philippine Trails we add any hotel stays required either before and/or after the cruise, and assist you in every way, from the moment you arrive into the Philippines, to your departure, including accommodation and transfers.

The ship, Discovery Palawan, or its sister ship, Discovery Adventure, can also be chartered entirely for small group diving expeditions. We will be happy to assist and quote.

We can also offer Liveaboards that sail from Cebu aboard the ship, Seadoors. Information on that can be found here...
