The Philippines. Don't Stop Planning Your Holidays...

The Philippines, like most of the world, is in lockdown right now. The pandemic that is sweeping the world has momentarily put an end to travel for tourists and we can only bide our time and wait for normality to return, and for the opportunity to explore this great planet once more.

In the ivory towers of Philippine Trails, we're putting this period of relative calm to good use. We're polishing up the range of itineraries that we offer, ensuring that there's an attractive selection for would-be visitors to consider whilst making their future plans.

Yes, there will soon be a time when the Philippines welcomes visitors again, offering the usual kind charm and hospitality that the people have long been renowned for.

Until that time, continue with your tropical island plans, envisage what life would be like exploring the Philippines islands, and don't stop dreaming about future adventures. We'll always be at hand to offer advice and assistance. There's nothing to stop us planning your next tour, even with start date currently unknown!

As the Philippines prepares for 2021 and the celebration of 500 years of Christianity in the country, we take look at the official logo and identify its significant aspects.

Ten Features of the Official Logo

1. 2021 will mark 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines. The logo above has been produced to mark this celebration.

2. The overall colour scheme has been designed to reflect the colours of the Philippine Flag.

3. The bold cross, an established Christian sign, also represents the strong mast of a sailing ship.

4.The Ship itself is a nod to the sailors who first brought the Christian faith to the Philippines.

5. The flash of blue is a reflection of several different aspects, including the Holy Spirit represented in a form of a dove.

6. The central graphic shows two figures, and is based on the painting of Fernando Amorsolo, entitled “First Baptism in the Philippines”.

7. The yellow background is taken from the Philippine flag, and similarly is a representation of the sun.

8. The red coloured fish (or “Ichthus”) symbolises Jesus. Early Christians would use this icon to introduce themselves to fellow Christians.

9. The blue beads represent the Holy Rosary.

10. The bold accented brown lines at the base indicate the hand of God.

A more detailed interpretation of the logo, and other information can be viewed on the official  500YOC Website...
