Tourism Continues its Growth in the Philippines...

UPDATE April 2020: With the current lockdown in place in many countries around the world, including the Philippines, travel and tourism has come to a temporary standstill. That shouldn't stop you planning your future trips, however, and we are still here to advise and assist. We can help you plan your next Philippines holiday, even if the dates aren't yet certain! Contact us...

New figures show that Philippines tourism continues to boost the country's economy, and with this, employment in the sector has continued to rise.

Despite the six-month closure of popular Boracay, between April and October 2018 when the island's infrastructure was upgraded, tourism increased to 12.7% of the Philippines’ Gross Domestic Product. This was a 0.5% increase from the previous year.

Correspondingly, employment in the tourism sector rose by almost 2% - to 5.4 million.

The Philippines - Renowned for the Diversity of its Marine Wildlife

The Philippines is one of the best countries in the world when it comes to its diversity of wildlife, no more so than beneath its warm waters.

The country is a magnet for diving enthusiasts, and, such is the wealth of marine creatures, the beaches of its numerous islands are favoured by swimmers and snorkelers too.

Whale Sharks

Visitors are keen to experience whale sharks, and although these can be found all around the Philippines, they are particularly predominate at Oslob, Cebu, (where they congregate all year round), and at Donsol, Bicol, where the season is between November and May.

Whale Shark Interaction - Good or Bad?

Dolphin-Spotting

Around Bohol and Negros islands taking boat trips scouting for whales and dolphins is a popular excursion. The boatmen are skilled at spotting these creatures and tiling amongst them.

Turtles and other Marine Species

Turtles are another species wide-spread, and favoured spots for experiencing these creatures include Apo Island, (near Dumaguete), Port Barton, (Palawan), and Balicasag Island (off Bohol). Delve beneath the waves of the Philippines oceans and see much more besides.

A Testimonial Received From Happy Clients...

scenic photographic views by guests in the Philippines

A repost (but we think it's worth reposting!)

A lot of hard work goes into planning each and every holiday for our clients, so when we receive feedback like this, it is very encouraging...

Hi Lucy and Nigel

We are now settled into New Zealand life enjoying our time with our daughter, husband and grand children.

Re our trip...

We owe you both a big thank you for the organisation and selection of locations for us of what was an excellent holiday. We enjoyed every part of it and were lucky enough to achieve our No1 aim to snorkel with a big whale shark at Donsol as well as seeing so many different fish whilst snorkelling around Bohol and Miniloc and Sue diving at Miniloc. Birding trips also worked very well - especially the one to Villa Escudero, Olango Island and dawn at Rasa Island to see the Philippine Cockatoo's waking up

All connections etc worked well and a big thanks must go to all the various contacts we had in the Philippines - all of whom were totally focussed on making our stay enjoyable - nothing seemed too much for them.

In Summary

A Great holiday, in a beautiful country, with lovely people, superb scenery and great activities

If you want any further detail as feedback please let me know -

I may be wrong but I believe that you knew how we were getting on during our holiday as Lucy seemed to be in contact with all our reps during your evenings / night time which did make us feel that we had a "guiding angel" watching over us !!

You have a very satisfied customer

Paul and Sue

We were grateful to Paul and Sue for taking the time to give us that kind feedback.

There are lots more testimonials from customers on our website here...

Private Islands. How we Helped Produce the Philippines Episode...

We were delighted when we were asked to assist with the arrangements for top TV show, Private Islands, when the subject was "The Philippines".

We worked with Christina Cindrich, the programme's presenter every step of the way, and our Lucy, who is in charge of planning clients' tours, even flew out there to appear on the programme and be interviewed!

Here's a screenshot of Lucy during the show.

Lucy picked a great location for her interview. This was filmed from one of our favourite Manila hotels - from its rooftop, and with the lights of Manila forming an enticing backdrop.

It's safe to say that Christina was impressed with the Philippines. She even left us a lovely feedback once the filming was complete:

"Thank you so much for everything in the Philippines! You created a perfect itinerary for our shoot! Time to write the show!"

@MissCindrich - USA - "Private Islands" TV Show Host

Thanks, Christina. We're so glad you enjoyed the Philippines!

Take a look at the trailer for the TV show at the top of this page - it'll give you a taste of what to expect from a Philippines holiday or vacation. See our Luxury Resort suggestions.

If YOU would like to experience the hospitality and warmth of the Philippines people, and enjoy a holiday just like this, take a look at our website. www.PhilippineTrails.com

Philippines Destination Spotlight - Coron

Coron, Calamian Islands, Philippines
Coron, Calamian Islands, Philippines.

Coron is the colloquial short term for what are actually the Calamian Islands, situated to the very north of the chain of islands that make up Palawan. This group of islands includes the island of Coron, Sangat Island, Busuanga Island, Culion Island, and Calauit Island. This part os the Philippines is especially popular with divers, explorers, and birdwatchers.

Sangat Island is situated right amongst a number of World War II wrecks and offers world-class diving.

Busuanga has stunning scenery with rainforests, mountains, caves and an attractive coastline.

Culion Island offers peace and serenity. It has had a dark past as for many years it was a leper colony. The population enjoy a
simple style of living and are welcoming and hospitable.

Calauit Island is famous for its African wildlife! Here is a natural area where plants and animals exist with a minimum amount of human disturbance. It was declared a game preserve and wildlife sanctuary in 1977 after the country responded to an appeal by the International Union of Conservation of Nature to save endangered African animals.

Coron is reached by direct flights from Manila or El Nido, and also by ferry from El Nido.
